Bowen: Momentum is the strength of Trump's Gaza plan, but lack of detail is its weakness

US President Donald Trump's 20-point framework agreement aims to end the Gaza war and rebuild the devastated territory. The plan has garnered support from leading Arab and Islamic countries, including Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Turkey. Israeli Primete Minister Benjamin Netanyahu initially accepted the plan, standing alongside Trump, despite its mention of a potential pathway to Palestinian statehood, which he has previously denounced ¹ ².

*Key Components of the Plan:*

- *Immediate Ceasefire*: The plan calls for an immediate end to hostilities, with Israeli forces withdrawing to agreed-upon lines.

- *Hostage Exchange*: All Israeli hostages, alive and deceased, would be returned within 72 hours of Israel's public acceptance.

- *Prisoner Release*: Israel would release 250 life-sentence prisoners and 1,700 Gazans detained after October 7, 2023.

- *Transitional Governance*: Gaza would be governed by a technocratic committee under international supervision.

- *Economic Reconstruction*: A special economic zone would be established to attract international investment ² ¹.

Trump has given Hamas "three to four days" to decide on the plan, warning that rejection would lead to continued conflict. Netanyahu's stance on Palestinian statehood remains unclear, as he later contradicted the plan's suggestions in a video message to his constituents ³ ¹.
