Subject: Urgent Call for Investigation and Rescue of Tortured Children in Port Harcourt Church
Dear Sir,
On behalf of the Child’s Rights and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN), I write to express deep concern and outrage over a disturbing video circulating online for the past three days, depicting the brutal torture of children—aged between 2 and 7 years—within a church in Eneka, Port Harcourt. The children were seen dripping with blood, while undergoing horrific torture for more than three days, according to eyewitnesses.
This blatant abuse, carried out under the guise of religious exorcism, is not only criminal but a gross violation of the rights and dignity of innocent children. CRARN is appalled that despite the public circulation of this evidence, no investigation, arrest, or prosecution has been initiated against the perpetrators of this heinous act.
It is becoming alarmingly common for certain religious groups across Nigeria to incarcerate, beat, and psychologically torment children in the name of deliverance. These acts amount to torture and must be condemned and prosecuted without delay.
CRARN calls on your office to immediately launch a full-scale investigation, rescue the affected children, and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. We will continue to issue press releases and mobilize public awareness until these children are freed from such satanic rituals and unlawful incarceration.
We trust in your commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect the most vulnerable members of our society.
Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth Wilson-Itauma
