The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Child’s Rights and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN), Sam Ikpe Itauma, has been conferred with the Distinguished Education Ambassador Award by the Kingdom Life College of Education (KLCE).
The honor was bestowed during the institution’s matriculation and graduation ceremony held at its premises in Ikot Udoma, Eket. Itauma, who chaired the occasion, expressed gratitude to KLCE for recognizing his contributions to education and child welfare.
In his keynote address, Itauma urged students to take their studies seriously, striving to become “shining stars and worthy citizens.” He cautioned against social vices such as, cultism, internet fraud, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, which he described as a growing menace in society. He further encouraged students to be active participants in the democratic process by voting for leaders committed to improving citizens’ lives, while rejecting politicians who exploit them with temporary incentives during elections.
Acknowledging the support of CRARN’s partners, Itauma highlighted the organization’s efforts in providing thousands of scholarships to children in both secondary and tertiary institutions.
KLCE’s founder, Dr. Godwin Osung, commended Itauma’s dedication, noting that his scholarship initiatives have enabled hundreds of children to pursue higher education, with many already graduating from universities and colleges. Dr. Osung called on well-meaning individuals to emulate Itauma’s sterling example in advancing education.
During the ceremony, the institution also launched its 2026 and 2027 almanac, appealing to corporate bodies and distinguished individuals to sponsor students eager to pursue academic opportunities.
Adding depth to the occasion, Pastor Akwaowo James delivered a lecture titled Transforming Society Through Effective Education under the theme A Journey That Will Shape the Future of the Matriculating Student. He described education as “the cultivation of wisdom, values, and skills that empower individuals to become agents of change.” He stressed that effective education breaks the chains of ignorance, poverty, and inequality, equipping students to live responsibly and contribute meaningfully to national and global progress.
